| Customer Reviews: still perfect! April 23, 2004 D. Sepsenwol (New Rochelle, NY United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had this watch for more than five years, and worn it everywhere, including the mountains, the beach, sailing, and hiking. It still looks as good as it did the day I bought it. All surfaces are scratch-proof. Keeps excellent time. A very distinctive and elegant look that people continue to notice.
Beautiful, unique and attention getting! October 24, 2008 jnsloantx (Austin, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this watch many years ago. I wear it as my daily watch and have abused it inadvertantly by banging it into walls, tables, door jambs and other hard objects and it still looks brand new. It has a classic but modern look that grabs attention. I get compliments or questions on it often. In all of the years that I've owned it, I have only seen one other so it is not common.
Other pros:
1. Amazingly thin and light weight
2. Durable. It truly is scratch-PROOF.
3. Ceramic band doesn't get dirty or dingy. The ceramic material always shines like new.
4. Keeps perfect time. I have never had to reset my Rado, other than for the time changes.
The only downsides to this watch are:
1. The clasp can get gunked up and doesn't close securely. Just clean it and it works like new.
2. It is a bit pricey but since it is definitely in the same class as a Rolex, you are paying for quality and class. Actually, I would not own a Rolex because of the size and they tend to lose time, in my experience.
3. Battery replacement. Rado says to return it to an authorized repair facility. Zales had to send it out to someone and charged me $25. The next time, I took it to my jeweler and asked him to send it out. He popped the back open and replaced the battery for $5, like any other watch. The problem is that some jewelers are too scared of the fused crystal. If they are confident, competent and do it correctly, there's no problem at all. Find a good jeweler. Oh, and battery life is very good, on the order of two years.
4. The BIG downside is that you can't really tell time! I often hold it up, point to it and say that I can't tell time but I look DAM good! Actually, you get used to it but without the hour markers, it's a bit difficult to get the exact time. But, with the looks, it's well worth it! The quarter hour markers help but it's still not an exact science.
Overall, I absolutely recommend this watch if you want quality, durablility and unique looks.
